How It Works

Spotipo integrates with Ruckus Zone Director through WISPr hotspot service and RADIUS authentication, delivering centralized captive portal management for Ruckus wireless networks.

Centralized controller management. Configure captive portal once on Zone Director and automatically deploy across all managed Ruckus access points without individual AP configuration.

WISPr hotspot service. Leverages Ruckus's industry-standard WISPr implementation for reliable guest authentication and session management across entire wireless network.

RADIUS authentication system. Configure Spotipo as authentication and accounting server for secure guest access control and detailed usage tracking.

CLI-enhanced configuration. Web GUI handles most settings while CLI commands fine-tune NAS ID and Called Station ID for proper authentication behavior.

Walled garden access control. IP-based whitelist ensures uninterrupted access to authentication infrastructure and optional social login services.

Multi-WLAN deployment. Enable captive portal on specific WLANs while maintaining separate network policies for internal staff and guest access.

1. Create Zone Director Site

Generate your Ruckus Zone Director configuration in Spotipo, receiving RADIUS server credentials and location ID automatically.

2. Configure AAA Servers

Add authentication and accounting RADIUS servers in Zone Director with Spotipo-provided server addresses and shared secrets.

3. Create Hotspot Service

Set up WISPr hotspot service with Spotipo portal URLs, location ID, and walled garden configuration for seamless authentication.

4. Apply CLI Settings

SSH into Zone Director and execute commands to set called-station-id-type to ap-mac and nasid-type to mac-addr for proper operation.
